Inuit and First Nations
The connections EVOQ has established over three decades with the communities located North of the 55th parallel are based on trust and mutual respect. To the cleverness and ingenuity of these ancestral cultures, to their vision of the world, we contribute our knowledge and know-how to embody the change each community chooses to bring forward.
On the land of the Inuit and the First Nations, to build implies to create man’s imprint on the landscape: a gesture of assertion, loaded with significance. Architecture marks the territory by its location, its form and colours, by its materials. The built form expresses human presence, contributes to a way of life, and supports social fabric.
EVOQ gives shape to this presence by designing institutional, educational or scientific establishments; cultural, community or sports amenities; transport infrastructures and residential units or complexes. Our constructions within these communities rest on an understanding of the local and regional issues, on a collaborative approach and on the mastery of techniques and management strategies specific to the northern milieu.
We help each community to develop solutions customized to their expectations, social and economic as well as technical. Thus EVOQ invests directly in promoting the economic development of the communities. We have founded Panaq Design, a Nunavummiut joint firm dedicated to the development of a local professional expertise. Ultimately, we aim to create an environment with a positive outlook for the future.
