As part of our firm’s ongoing development, we are looking for an Intermediate Architect for our office in Ottawa to work on projects of all sizes and complexity. Principal Responsibilities

The selected candidate will assume, under the supervision of the senior associate, the following responsibilities:

  • Undertake historical and background research;
  • Conduct existing building condition  surveys and reports;
  • Participate in all phases of project development;
  • Prepare contract/construction documents and assist in guiding junior staff;
  • Identify and solve technical challenges;
  • Coordinate with consultants, stakeholders and contractors;
  • Conduct site review and contract administration;
  • Perform other related duties as required;
  • Participate in the preparation of offer of services;
  • Participate in the preparation of project schedules and cost estimates.

About You

  • Autonomous and proactive;
  • Rigorous, well organized and quick to understand concepts and ideas;
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneous.

Your Skills

  • Registered or eligible to be registered Architect in Ontario or Quebec (active member of the OAA and/or OAQ);
  • At least 5 years of work-related experience in contract document production, in site review and contract administration;
  • Computer skills: AutoCAD, Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat; and familiarity with Photoshop, InDesign, Revit;
  • Knowledge of building codes, building envelope design, building materials and specifications;
  • Strong technical knowledge in construction detailing;
  • Professional fluency in spoken and written English. Bilingualism (French/English) is a plus;
  • Post professional degree in Heritage Conservation or 5 years of practice in the field is a plus.
