The birthplace of renowned Quebec painter, Ozias Leduc, the charming historical home was donated to the Mont St. Hilaire Fine Arts Museum by the artist’s grand-niece Mrs. Simone Leduc-Lemay.

The building was mostly intact and a rare example of a rural house from the early 19th century. The interior features one room plus a half floor dormitory and a central stone fireplace.

EVOQ was mandated by the museum to convert the building into an interpretive centre, accessible to the public. The transformation from a residence to a public building required restoration work to preserve the heritage property and to address safety and accessibility concerns.
