In 1998, the Old Brewery Mission opened the Patricia Mackenzie Pavilion to help relieve the suffering of women living on the streets. Now the largest shelter of its kind in Canada, this facility provides a safe and healthy environment for up to 76 women at a time. It has 38 transitional residences, 30 emergency beds and 8 day program beds, and provides its clients with food, clothing and support for health and social services.Conversion of a five-storey building originally conceived as a garage into a women’s shelter with the capacity to house up to 100 guests.
