The Sir George-Étienne Cartier Monument is one of the most prominent features of Montreal’s Olmsted-designed Mount Royal Park. The park and its surroundings is the first landscape in Quebec registered as a protected historic and natural district.
EVOQ was mandated to conduct a Historic Structure Report and develop the conservation program. The work began with a reconstruction of the platform and stairs, followed by the restoration of the granite column and pedestal and restoration of the bronze sculptures.
The Monument and its platform is a popular gathering point in the park, hosting an array of activities throughout the year and the weekly Tam-tams festivities throughout summer.
