ITUM Eco-Neighborhood: Gold Certification and INT Design Awards

EVOQ is proud to announce that the community development project for the Kauatshinakanashkasht sector, developed for Innu Takuaikan Uashat mak Mani-utenam (ITUM), was submitted to the INT Design Awards and received Gold certification! 

Inspired by the eco-neighborhood concept, this plan was carried out in close collaboration with Atelier Urbain (urban planning), 2Architectures (landscape architecture), and O'yenhra (Indigenous–non-Indigenous collaboration), with EVOQ leading the architectural design of this multidisciplinary team.

The eco-neighborhood concept was adapted to integrate Innu cultural and community practices, going beyond its classic pillars. An immersive and participatory approach, including meetings with elders and artisans as well as a co-creation workshop, helped ground the urban design in the community's values and knowledge. Designed as a pilot project, this plan is set to become a model for the next phases of development.
