The historic Queen's Gate: A metamorphosis underway

The majestic Queen's Gate will soon be unveiled in a new light! EVOQ is proud to have collaborated and overseen with Ed Bowkett, Metals Conservator, the meticulous rehabilitation of this heritage gem in wrought iron dating from 1876.
This conservation project required a rigorous approach and specialized expertise led by Public Services and Procurement Canada and in collaboration with Dominion Restoration, exceptional conservation artisans. Meticulous attention was given to each detail, respecting the Gate’s authenticity and historical integrity, in order to bring back its original splendor while ensuring its longevity for future generations.
The Queen's Gate is the main entrance to Parliament Hill and is located in the Wellington Wall, a landscape feature designed in the Gothic Revival style. It is a historic gateway with important heritage value, centered on the axis of the Peace Tower and the Centennial Flame.
