Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre

The Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre, established in 1994, provides essential services to Nunavik's 14 communities, focusing on substance use and trauma recovery. The new facility, opened in September 2023, triples its capacity, offering programs for families and pregnant women. Set on a rocky peninsula overlooking the Koksoak River, the centre blends with nature to enhance healing, inspired by Inuit culture. Its two wings symbolize arctic willows, with public spaces and therapy areas arranged around a central qaggiq, a circular communal area. The design, infused with fall tones, emphasizes cultural significance through integrated artworks, including Alec Gordon's reinterpretation of the urpik and Sarah May's Tunniit designs. A qullialuk sculpture at the entrance reflects collaboration among Inuit artists.
