Pangnirtung RCMP Detachment
The Pangnirtung Detachment is a new construction project that was required to house RCMP services and replace existing, obsolete facilities. The detachment is centrally located in Pangnirtung, at a busy intersection of what is known as the hamlet's “downtown”. With this strategic location and high visibility comes a significant responsibility for urban integration and social acceptability.
As safety was one of the project's key constraints, it had a major impact on functional programming and the building's layout. The detachment’s new modular building covers 588 square meters. Modules were prefabricated off-site in Alberta, transported by sea-lift, and then assembled on-site in Pangnirtung.
