Amica Islington Village

Amica Islington Village is a new seniors’ residence in the former institutional heart of Islington Village and Etobicoke Township.  The project conserved the 1946 Georgian Revival Township Hall with its 1843 Methodist Church rear wing.  Working with Montgomery Sisam Architects, EVOQ completed the Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) and Conservation Report. The HIA was used to evaluate the heritage property, identify any impact of the proposed development and propose mitigation options and strategies. The Conservation Report defined the conservation approach and treatments. EVOQ completed the Contract Documents for the heritage building envelope including brick, roof and wood window rehabilitation, the tie-in to the contemporary build, the new rear wall, and the interior reconfiguration for residential amenity programme.

Conservation of the heritage buildings has included improving their thermal performance, by adding insulation to the brick walls, resulting in more naturally temperate buildings.
