Holocaust Museum - Qualification phase
Text extracted from the teams's proposal (originally in French) :
"I'm back, this time accompanying my children's class. From the agora, we take our coats to the back. The experience begins again. The children are fascinated by the magic of the hologram room and the voices of the survivors. Descent to the auditorium and multi-purpose room. Spatial geometry guides our gaze towards the tiered garden, a source of natural light. Embedded in the volumetry of the museum, it rises in tiers from the basement to reach rue St-Dominique, like an amphitheater that lends itself to the play of the seasons and allows for rest and informal discussion. After the presentation, we return to the first floor to visit the temporary exhibition, then resume our strolling and chatting in the heart of the agora, then the public square, then the street. Dialogue. Exchanges. Transformative experiences.
We leave. This wall, a metaphor for the way in which the Holocaust tore the fabric of civilization and shook the very foundations of humanity, is now fading behind us. He supports the spatial organization, separating the agora and public spaces bathed in sunlight from the shadowy spaces in which hatred, racism and genocide are revealed. We now understand his testament, this message of remembrance, grief and sacrifice, but also of resilience, solidarity and hope.
Between the shadow of oppression and the light of freedom."
