Cégep du Vieux-Montréal - Rehabilitation of the Swimming Pool Changing Rooms
Located in the heart of Montreal, the Centre d'Éducation Physique et de Sport at Cégep du Vieux Montréal (CEPS) serves both the student community and residents of the Ville-Marie borough. Built in 1968, this six-level sports complex required accessibility upgrades and modernization of its aging facilities. Since 2019, EVOQ has been supporting the Cégep in a strategic phased rehabilitation approach, optimizing investments while maintaining ongoing activities.
This approach began with the transformation of the pool's gendered changing rooms into a universal changing room in 2021, which perfectly illustrates our sensitive approach to inclusive design. This intervention, which has become a reference in Montreal, meets universal accessibility requirements while creating a functional space appreciated by users. The single changing room opens directly onto the pool deck, simplifying circulation and maximizing spatial efficiency.
