FACE School

Designed in 1914 by the Maxwell brothers, this neoclassical building with ornate façades had suffered from age and partial restorations. EVOQ led two phases of work: modernizing the auditorium and carrying out a multi-year exterior restoration.

Inside the auditorium, the work balanced contemporary theatre requirements with conservation goals: stage expansion, acoustic improvements, addition of sprinkler systems, restoration of original plasterwork and paintings, and reinstatement of the historic seating layout.

On the exterior, the team addressed longstanding structural issues and decades of deferred maintenance: missing terracotta pieces were recreated, the masonry was restored, and windows were replaced to match their original appearance, with approval from the Ministry of Culture.

This project shows how architectural heritage can accommodate modern learning spaces for future generations.
