Fort Lasalle and Yeo Hall
Fort Lasalle and Yeo Hall are two buildings on the western peninsula of the Royal Military College of Canada, in Kingston. Working with Jokinen & Jovic Engineers, EVOQ carried out two separate mandates of similar scope, spanning several project phases.
Phase I involved reviewing existing building records and conducting site investigations to identify masonry deterioration in both buildings and the bridge connecting them, as well as assessing the condition of Yeo Hall's aluminum windows. The proposed repairs were then implemented in stages, in line with annual budgets and the university's academic calendar.
For Fort Lasalle, the work included rebuilding the upper portion of the main entrance tower and rehabilitating the masonry to address deterioration. The building remained in service throughout construction, requiring careful attention to occupant safety, along with temporary protection measures for the mechanical equipment. Contract documents and administration for Phase III were completed by the end of 2020.
