Inukjuak Airport Terminal

The Inukjuaq Airport Terminal consists of a new single-storey terminal, covering a surface area of ​​approximately 824m2, chiefly distributed on a ground floor. A mezzanine measuring 81.7m2, a partial basement of 202m2 as well as a crawlspace running through the rest of the subfloor complete the building.

In Nunavik, air terminals are important meeting places. The proposed terminal has been designed around the idea of a central waiting area where passengers and those accompanying them gather for both arrivals and departures. This configuration permits the proper functioning of the terminal’s public space while avoiding cross traffic.

The general flow has been designed around the waiting area where some seats face the runway while others, in a unifying gesture, are arranged around the sculpture at the centre of this setting. The double-height ceilings offer additional personality to the space and allow the airport manager to have direct views of the expanse from mezzanine office located next to the SRAC. This area is all the more pleasant as it is illuminated by a clerestory which visually delimits the departures area and the arrivals waiting room.
