Kangiqsualujjuaq Youth House

EVOQ has delivered a simple yet effective building that incorporates a theme chosen by the community, giving each Youth House a unique identity through diverse colors and textures. In Kangiqsualujjuaq, the caribou — significant to the community — was selected as the main theme. The color palette reflects the region's landscapes, blending blue-green with burnt orange. Inspired by comic books appealing to young audiences, EVOQ playfully integrates the caribou into the design. An artwork by local artist Tivi Etok, featuring a soaring caribou, adorns the façade, inviting youth inside. Additionally, a mural depicting the caribou was collaboratively created with local youth for the building's main spaces. White perforated metal panels, reminiscent of comic book speech bubbles, protect the windows while adding a luminous texture to the interior, enhancing the playful atmosphere of the Youth House.
