Kangiqsualujjuaq Youth House
EVOQ has designed a simple yet effective building that incorporates a theme chosen by the community, giving each Youth House a unique identity through diverse colors and textures. In Kangiqsualujjuaq, the caribou — significant to the community — was selected as the main theme. The color palette reflects the region's landscapes, blending blue-green with burnt orange. Inspired by comic books appealing to young audiences, EVOQ playfully integrates the caribou into the design. An artwork by local artist Tivi Etok, featuring a soaring caribou, will adorn the façade, inviting youth inside. Additionally, a mural depicting the caribou will be collaboratively created with local youth for the building's main spaces. White perforated metal panels, reminiscent of comic book speech bubbles, will protect the windows while adding a luminous texture to the interior, enhancing the playful atmosphere of the Youth House.
