Makivvik Housing: single-family houses

Since 2001, EVOQ has been working with Makivvik Corporation to design and build housing in Nunavik's 14 communities. Mandated to improve socio-economic conditions in Nunavik, Makivvik manages the social housing construction program in its territory.

In 2022, EVOQ designed the first Makivvik single-family, 4-bedroom model (called S4). This model was developed in co-creation with Makivvik's Director of Construction Division, Frédéric Gagné, to meet the current wishes of Nunavimmiut. Measuring 216 m2 over 2 floors, this model offers bright, spacious interiors.

The following year, a similar 3-bedroom model was developed. One of the major optimizations was the integration of an entrance vestibule at the same level as the crawl space—i.e., very close to the ground—to reduce the number of steps required to access the house.
