The Caverhill

Located at 455 Saint-Pierre Street in Montreal, The Caverhill was constructed in 1865-66 according to plans by architects Cysil P. and William T. Thomas. At the time, it housed the headquarters of the wholesale hardware company Caverhill, Learmont & Co. In 2001, the building was converted into condominiums.

The building features two original five-story facades in the Italianate style, topped by a contemporary sixth floor added during the 2001 renovations. The original street-facing facades are clad with ornamented and sculpted Montreal grey stone.

In 2022, EVOQ was commissioned to prepare a condition assessment for the masonry of the Saint-Pierre Street facade, which resulted in the preparation of drawings and specifications for its restoration, tendering, and site supervision.

With the completion of work, the facade was returned to its previous glory, and the Caverhill once again stands out as an elegant and resplendent landmark in Old Montreal.
