Université de Montréal: Spacial Reconfiguration - Marie-Victorin Pavilion
This project is part of the Global Project for the Reallocation of Space on the Mountain Campus, following the relocation of the science departments to the MIL Campus in Outremont. This Global Project encompasses the Roger-Gaudry and Marie-Victorin Pavilions.
The Marie-Victorin Pavilion experience will be enhanced by the addition of bright, comfortable student spaces. These facilities will take the form of multi-storey rest areas in a variety of shapes and layouts. Despite this diversity, the fundamental intention is to create identifiable, friendly and lively places that can offer a real break in the daily lives of pavilion users.
Indeed, their coherent, unified visual signature will create landmarks, reinforce their collective status identity and contribute to the signage strategy in an existing building considered by some as potentially confusing. All natural light will be brought into play, eliminating as many opaque partitions as possible and opting for transparency. Acoustic wall treatment and gypsum ceiling and floor covering choices allow for lively exchanges or well-deserved relaxation, and easily distinguish circulation spaces.
