West Toronto Junction – Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Study

The West Toronto Junction Heritage Conservation District (HCD) Study was initiated following recommendations by Toronto City Council. The Study Area encompasses approximately 370 parcels located primarily along Dundas Street West, the neighbourhood's main artery, between Gilmour Avenue to the west and Humberside Avenue to the east. The purpose of the Study is to identify and assess the heritage values and attributes, and to develop a strategic approach to their conservation. This involves determining if the Study Area, or areas within, would warrant the designation as a Heritage Conservation District under Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act. If the Study Area is determined to merit Part V designation, the study will define the boundaries of the proposed HCD(s), establish conservation objectives, and outline the guiding principles of the District Plan — ensuring the long-term preservation of the historical and cultural identity of this iconic Toronto neighbourhood. This Study is ongoing.
