The Ernest Cormier Building is a prominent heritage building in Old Montreal. Designed in a classical style, the building features monumental granite and limestone and an imposing portico of 14 Doric columns. The building houses the Quebec Court of Appeal as well as the offices of the Société québecoise des infrastructures (SQI).
Responding to the heavily damaged facade and brick courtyard, EVOQ was mandated to restore and rehabilitate the masonry envelope, replace the interior aluminum windows and restore the exterior steel windows. A minimal intervention approach was implemented in order to restore the monumental appearance and improve the structural stability of this important heritage building.
