Inukjuak Community Greenhouse and Kitchen

In Inukjuak, Nunavik, the non-profit organization Sirivik now has new facilities designed to support its community mission and address food insecurity challenges in the region. The project, completed in spring 2025, marks an important milestone for the organization and for the community.

Since the completion of construction, Sirivik has deployed its activities there, including the preparation and distribution of meals to the local population. Designed to adapt to northern realities, the new infrastructure provides a functional and sustainable environment, allowing the organization to increase its impact and expand its food-related educational activities.

The project stands out for its integration of innovative food production solutions. The building includes a four-season solar greenhouse — a first in Nunavik — as well as a hydroponic growing container. The facilities enable the cultivation of fresh food on-site, reducing dependence on outside supply chains and helping to improve access to nutritious food for the community.

By drawing on strategies adapted to the local climate and context, Sirivik strengthens its role as a key player in food security in Inukjuak. EVOQ is proud to have contributed to the realization of this meaningful project, which combines innovation, resilience, and community engagement.
