Sirivik greenhouse and community kitchen
Sirivik's new community kitchen and greenhouse in Inukjuak embodies a concrete architectural response to food insecurity challenges. Designed to support its community mission, the building includes a solar greenhouse, a hydroponic growing container, a commercial kitchen, and a large dining room.
At the heart of the project, the four-season solar greenhouse, a first in Nunavik, structures the architecture and establishes a direct link with the activities of the community kitchen. The new infrastructure enables local production of fresh food, reducing dependence on outside supply chains and making the project a true hub for gathering and learning around food.
Through preparatory studies and public consultations, EVOQ designed a building with technologies that meet the needs of the community, while respecting Inuit culture and northern realities.
