Caroline-Dawson Library and Le Prévost Park - Qualification phase

The installation of the Villeray neighborhood library in connection with Le Prévost Park is a delicate and decisive operation for the overall success of the project. It
offers the dual possibility of spatial and identity consolidation, a unique opportunity to continue the borough's tradition of commitment to the vitality of its home territory and to consolidate a genuine civic bond with high ecological value that is resilient and evolving. To achieve this, the architectural and landscape design must have an impact on the surrounding environment in order to create an important civic space that fosters social ties: a reference point for the community.

The appropriateness of the installation located between Patro Villeray and Le Prévost Park is the basis of our conceptual approach. This approach aims to create an exemplary urban and architectural ensemble: a fusion of architecture, landscape, and city. Between esplanades, gardens, and promenades, a garden of ideas takes shape, whose status and physical representation enhance the project vision: a definition of architecture as primarily political,  in the sense that it is defined by civic issues; it generates architectural gestures in relation to the park and its surrounding context; a strong presence and an invitation.
