This past week, EVOQ had the great honor of hosting one of the leading figures of First Nations literature, Josephine Bacon. The Innu poet received a special tribute and in her words, she was given Eternity in her lifetime!  We invited Ms. Bacon to inaugurate a conference room bearing her name in our office. In this room, she unveiled a poetic wall, a wall of words, displaying one of her poetic works in three languages: Innu aimun, French and English.

EVOQ has worked with Canada’s Aboriginal communities for over 40 years. We have put our expertise and the power of architecture to serve the decolonization, cultural re-appropriation and indigenization process.

This cozy room is an oasis of peace and respite within the heart of the hectic environment of an architecture studio and so the Josephine Bacon Room was a natural choice for its designation. Blanketed by the Innu verses; both rich and soothing, they will inspire us, accompany us and watch over our thoughts and creative work.
