Maisonneuve Library – Official Inauguration and Open House
Last week, the City of Montreal officially inaugurated the Maisonneuve Library (see press release). Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante led the ceremony, accompanied by Quebec Minister of Culture and Communications Mathieu Lacombe, and Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Borough Mayor Pierre Lessard-Blais.
EVOQ and Dan Hanganu, in joint venture, were awarded the project in 2017 following a public architectural competition. EVOQ is honored to have pursued this project and to have brought it to a successful conclusion. The redevelopment of the former Maisonneuve City Hall has resulted in a new major civic space in Montreal, an achievement that will benefit citizens first and foremost.
The Maisonneuve Library stands as a symbol of urban vitality, providing a unique meeting place for free, open, and inclusive exchange. Its diversity of spaces and uses will foster continued civic presence and engagement in this emblematic sector of the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve Borough for years to come.
The EVOQ team, represented by Georges Drolet, Gilles Prud’homme, Sylvie Peguiron, and Marianne Leroux, was on hand during the open house to present the project’s design approach and key challenges to visitors participating in the event.
