Our colleague Maya Cousineau-Mollen recently published her first collection of poetry entitled, “Bréviaire du matricule 082“, published by Éditions Hannenorak. Maya, EVOQ’s Inuit and First Nations Community Development Advisor, was already an established voice in Innu poetry, having participated in various readings as well as in Indigenous literary bingo events. Her poetry has also been published in Amun, a well-regarded collection of literary works by Indigenous writers. “Bréviaire du matricule 082“, was officially released on September 19 at the Euguélionne bookstore, at a special launch event that also featured Louis-Karl Picard-Sioui’s latest offering entitled, “Les visages de la terre“. EVOQ is proud to announce that our colleague Maya Cousineau-Mollen has won an Indigenous Voices award in the French-language Poetry category for her collection, Bréviaire du Matricule 082 . Maya won the award ex-aequo with Marie André Gill who was recognized for her work, Chauffer le dehors. A great pan-Canadian recognition for our friend. Her home community, Ekuanitshit of the Innu Nation, also celebrated her achievement which shines a light on First Nations literature. The Indigenous Voice Awards were created in 2017 to support and nurture the work of First Nations and Inuit writers. They are intended to support Indigenous artistic communities and to resist the individualism of performance culture. As such, the Indigenous Voices Board of Directors strives to create opportunities for mentorship and creative collaboration among candidates, jurors and other members of the Aboriginal arts community, whenever possible. …

EVOQ is proud to announce that our colleague and First Nations and Inuit Community Development Advisor, Maya Cousineau Mollen has been selected as the Winter 2022 Mellon Writer-in-Residence at McGill University. The Writer-in-Residence program, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, brings Indigenous writers to campus to continue their creative work, share their expertise, interact with students and faculty, and increase awareness of Indigenous writing within the campus community and the general public. Last year’s writing residency was granted to Leanne Betasamosake Simpson. Roxanne Gauthier Maya Cousineau Mollen Our EVOQ colleagues Maya Cousineau Mollen, Community Development Adviser for Inuit and First Nations, and Senior Architect Roxanne Gauthier were invited to speak aboutarchitecture for the benefit of Inuit and First Nations on Radio-Canada’s Espaces autochtones with Anne-Marie Yvon. In a warm and cordial exchange, Maya and Roxanne talked about their respective roles as well as EVOQ’s philosophy and commitment to working with Canada’s Inuit and First Nations. Several EVOQ projects were discussed, notably the air terminal projects in Nunavik, the CHARS in Ikaluktuktiak (Cambridge Bay), the Shaputuan in Oujé-Bougoumou (Eeyou Eenou Nation), the Walgwan (Gesgapegiag) Treatment Centre and the future Ekuanitshit Multifunctional Innu Centre. This Friday June 21, EVOQ Architecture invites you to join our team at Place Vauquelin as of 9:15am to celebrate the summer solstice and National Indigenous Peoples’ Day. We will then make our way to the Quai de l’horologe for a cultural and artistic event in the Pyramide de la Lune rouge where our First Nations and Inuit Community Development Adviser, Maya Cousineau-Mollen, will speak on behalf of the Montreal Indigenous Community Network, which she also co-chairs. The day will also be an occasion to reaffirm the commitment to build an Indigenous cultural and artistic “embassy” at Montreal’s Quai de l’horologe.
