Union Station is one of the finest examples of Beaux Arts and Neo-Classical architecture in Canada. It is the second busiest transportation hub in the country and a landmark building in downtown Toronto.
The Union Station Revitalization Project (USRP) is a large-scale, multi-phase project with a threefold objective of restoring the National Historic Site, enhancing the transportation functions, and creating a vibrant retail destination in the “dig down” concourse level. As Heritage Architect to NORR, EVOQ was responsible for the design and quality assurance of interior and exterior restorations.
The work included restoration of the limestone and terracotta masonry, preservation of the Great Hall and other historic interiors, rehabilitation of the VIA Panorama Lounge and base building work for Metrolinx offices, and the coordination of systems upgrades.
